We are currently building coalitions within the Northeast and Town Center sections of Coral Springs (see the map below), so if you live in or around those areas, you’re welcome to join!

What are the benefits of our Neighborhood Coalitions?

Our coalitions bring more expertise and resources to address complex issues where the resources of any one person or organization are not enough. 

Our coalitions increase the impact of each individual or family’s effort.  Involvement in the coalition means more people have a better understanding of our issues and are advocating for the interests of the coalition. 

Our coalitions build a lasting base for change.  As we continue to grow, our vision of change broadens.

Our coalitions are made up of people who have never worked together before. While respecting each other’s differences, the diverse backgrounds and different perspectives mean we can work together for the bigger picture and foster a culture of acceptance and understanding.

What is a Neighborhood Coalition?

The formation and growth of the two neighborhood coalitions is an integral part to the mission of the Building Generations initiative. A coalition is an alliance of individuals and groups that work to achieve a common purpose and engage in mutually beneficial activities. Our Neighborhood Coalitions allow for people of all ages, races and backgrounds to come together as a community and take ownership of our neighborhoods. By voicing concerns, opinions and goals and channeling them through the coalition, we can accomplish much more together than we can on an individual level.   We can also communicate more effectively with our local elected officials about issues which impact our community. Our coalitions are composed of individuals, seniors, families, businesses, local community and religious leaders, elected officials and others who have similar values, interests, and goals. The process allows members to unite and become more powerful in effecting change within the neighborhood and community at large.

How are we building our Neighborhood Coalitions?

We are working hard to build and grow our coalitions successfully. The early steps center on the recognition of compatible interests and goals and in embracing the belief that by working together, we enhance our ability to reach our goals.  We recognize that the benefits of working together are greater than the costs of not. Our coalitions meet regularly at convenient times and in accessible locations. Smaller groups, or task forces, are convened to address specific issues such as volunteering with seniors; mentoring & engaging youth; addressing crime prevention; providing education & training of members who need assistance with employment, finances or other needs.
